Michael Claus takes familiar sounds — techno, electro, and kin — and shakes their foundation. Not "lo-fi," but corroded. Twisted around, shifted. He moves from deep, affecting washes of ambient sound to heavy, hard-hitting drum tracks with gentle steadiness.
Michael Claus's first 12", Ice Pick, was released on Left Hand Path in May 2018. He has released two cassette albums on Jacktone Records, one on 100% Silk, and runs his own label out of San Francisco, Silva Electronics.
